Our next play reading is on Monday 4 July, at the Centrepoint Library, Im Lohnhof 8, 4051 Basel.  Members and non-members are welcome - free of charge.

We will read “A View from the Bridge” by Arthur Miller:

Eddie Carbone’s beautiful niece Catherine is the light of his and his wife’s life.  They welcome two relatives from Italy, who come to Brooklyn to live with them and work illegally. One of them, Rodolpho, is poor but charming and good-looking. Soon he and Catherine are crazy about each other. Eddie’s jealousy leads him to imagine Rodolpho is a homosexual whose only interest in Catherine is to get himself a green card. Despite advice from his friends, Eddie is driven to treachery, and thus finally destroys the lives and livelihoods of them all.

In 2015 after a completely sold-out run in London’s West End, it won the 2015 Olivier Awards for Best Revival, Best Actor and Best Director, and was named the top theatre pick of the year by Evening Standard, The Guardian and The Independent.

You can arrive any time after 7pm.  The reading will begin promptly at 7.30pm.  Centrepoint shares its entrance with the Musik Museum and can be found by walking through a church courtyard into a smaller courtyard.  The shared entrance is on the right hand side - then follow the Semi-Circle signs upstairs to the Library.
