Play Reading Monday 6 November - "An Ordinary Day" by Dario Fo

  • 06 Nov 2017
  • 19:00 - 22:00
  • Centrepoint Library, Im Lohnhof 8, 4051 Basel

Our next play reading is on Monday 6 November, 7pm for a 7.30pm start, at the Centrepoint Library, Im Lohnhof 8, 4051 Basel.  Members and non-members are welcome.

We will read An Ordinary Day by Dario Fo.

This play centres around successful publicist, Giulia, who has decided to commit suicide following the failure of her marriage. However, instead of leaving the usual letter to her husband, she decides to bid him farewell with a videotape. But not everything goes according to plan: her phone number has been published in a psychoanalytical journal, and this forces her to radically change her plans.

Dario Fo (1926 –2016) was an Italian actor, playwright, comedian, singer, theatre director, stage designer, songwriter, painter, political campaigner, and recipient of the 1997 Nobel Prize for Literature. He is one of the most widely performed contemporary playwrights. Much of his dramatic work depends on improvisation and is influenced by giullari (medieval strolling players) and the commedia dell'arte.

You can arrive any time from 7pm.  The reading will begin promptly at 7.30pm.  Centrepoint shares its entrance with the Musik Museum and can be found by walking through a church courtyard into a smaller courtyard.  The shared entrance is on the right hand side - then follow the Semi-Circle signs upstairs to the Library.
