"The Paradise Pageant" and "The Nativity Pageant"
"The Paradise Pageant of the Grocers of Norwich" The Creation And Fall Of Man by The Grocers of Norwich This play is a medieval interpretation of the story of the creation, as related in Genesis. God the Father creates Adam and makes him the caretaker of the Garden of Eden. God then causes him to fall into a deep sleep, takes a rip from his side, and creates a woman to be his companion. The serpent comes and tempts the woman to eat an apple from the tree of knowledge. She succumbs and offers the apple to Adam. He eats of it, but realises that they have sinned. God commands his angel to cast them both out of Paradise. They then come under the power of Dolor and Misery, but the Holy Ghost appears and offers them salvation.
